India’s seafood exports grew over 30 percent in 5 years

NEW DELHI, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — India’s seafood exports witnessed a remarkable growth of 30.81 percent in the past five fiscal years, showed data released by the federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday.
In fiscal year (FY) 2019-20, the seafood exports’ value stood at 466.628 billion Indian rupees (5.56 billion U.S. dollars), and rose to 610.436 billion Indian rupees (7.27 billion U.S. dollars) in FY 2023-24.
As per the official data, over the past five fiscal years India’s marine product exports steadily increased from 1.33 million tonnes in FY 2019-20 to an estimated 1.82 million tonnes in FY 2023-24.
The top five destinations for India’s seafood exports were the United States, China, Japan, Vietnam and Thailand. ■
